News and Media Coverage of LA Sight

Dr. Wallace and the team at LA Sight have worked hard for the past 25 years to build a reputation as one of the premier visoin correction prarctices in the Los Angeles area.  Unlike some of our competition, we do not keep a publicist or public relations consultant on retainer, and we don't feed polished promo pieces to the local media spouting 30-second sound bytes about the newest, latest & greatest eye treatment.  Frankly, we find the whole publicity thing a bit tacky and often flagrantly self-promotional, as the stories presented are often distortions of truth designed to suit the surgeon rather than the public interest.

Having said that, we all know and recognize the value of public recognition, and media coverage; and the positive effects that good "press" can have on any product or service.  Dr. Wallace and LA Sight have been recognized on numerous occasions, and we'd like to share with you those acknowledgements.

This past year, we were asked by the producers of the TLC Discovery Channel's show Ten Years Younger to be the exclusive provider of vision correction services for their show.  Ten Years younter ("TYY") is run by the same production company that made it big several years ago with Extreme Makeover on ABC in prime time.  We treated two patients in the '07 - '08 season; you can link to those shows which aired March 7th and March 21st '08 in the LA area.  If we had a publicist, he or she would want us to claim, in large bold print, As Seen on TLC's Ten Years Younger.

We were also asked by producers for the Tyra Banks Show to help with a makeover segment they did for Tyra's inaugural show back in Spetember, 2005.  We helped a very nice woman from Ohio to realize her dream of "getting rid of those glasses" with LASIK care.

Dr. Wallace has written articles, one of which appeared in Plane & Pilot Magazine, about LASIK for Pilots.

He has been interviewed and quoted in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Business Week, and other major publications.

One of our proudest accomplishments, to be candid, is this website.  We believe that balanced content, provided with richness and depth, affords prospective clients perhaps the best opportunity to find answers they may seek regarding vision correction care.  Dr. Wallace has frequently been asked to lecture to other surgeons and LASIK prarctices around the world on this topic.  LA-Sight.com was recognized as one of the "best sites about LASIK and vision correction" in a recent survey.

Shortly after 9/11 Dr. Wallace was asked to participate in a "Free LASIK for First Responders" day in which over 40 LA City Fire Fighters were treated, at no cost.  Many of the personnel treated had been to Ground Zero in New York to help with rescue and recovery efforts.

Dr. Wallace has also been recognized as one of LA's Best Doctors by Los Angeles Magazine.
